WORKS FROM THE SHOW
ABOUT THE WORKS
"Textilia" is a collection of original fine art prints. In the series, I utilize a multimedia process to produce images reminiscent of textiles. Each work began with an acrylic painting on canvas panel that was moved to digital media using a photographic method. The paintings were edited digitally where mirroring, color, and lighting effects were employed to generate unique patterns and compositions. Some pieces play on the idea of "orientalism", and others on anthropological systems of order - e.g., 'moieties'. All of the works hearken to the role textiles have in meaning-making, and how 'texts' impart information. One might think of the way societies use texts, textiles, and codices to embed cultural information.
